Ceremonial cacao is very different from the chocolate you buy in just any common health food store. Making it is a slow process honoring the plant, the earth and the spirit of the medicine. Cacao in its most purest form is a medicine that has been used ceremonially for thousands of years in Central/South America, this particulary comes from San Marcos in Guatemala. The ceremonial cacao is a heart-opening medicine and helps bring you to a deeper state of presence.
It’s packed with: magnesium, (the highest naturally occurring source of) chromium, copper, calcium, manganese, zinc, sulfur, iron, and phosphorous.
When consumed unsweetened or with very little, it is a superfood, packed with beneficial minerals and neuro modulators that beneficially affect our state of mind. The mild bitterness of a ceremonial cacao drink can also serve to cleanse the liver or release emotions, and the alkaloid content of pure cacao boosts circulation and absorption of nutrients.
Before you drink cermonial cacao you should read THIS.
I drink my cacao every morning and it has almost become a ritual for me. When you first start to drink cermonial cacao it may taste a bit bitter but as the body starts to adapt to it, it will go away. Anyhow start with a low dose and increase when your body tells you to.
For beginners, start with around 15g cacao. The recipie I love is:
4dl of hot water (NOT boiling)
a pinch of chili
1 tsp honey
I like to blend mine in a mixer to get that extra smoothe texture
One pack includes 454g of cermonial cacao
